As a resident of Downtown LA, I would like to share my experiences in the Nightlife, Entertainment, Dining and Parenting in the heart of our City.
I am Susana Benavidez, a native Angeleno, mother of two, and happy other half of M. I grew up in neighboring Boyle Heights and have always had a soft spot for Downtown LA. Even in the years when you could only travel a few blocks without stumbling upon the Skid Row scene, the beauty of the Historic buildings bore down on you that you had to resuscitate this underused and ignored Downtown.
I am a mom to two mini grown-up’s: Bella and Iza - they are not twins as Bella will be quick to point out; Bella was born in Jan 05 and Iza came racing after her in Nov 05. All four of us live at Market Lofts, I work at City Hall and the girls go to school in Little Tokyo. My dream of living in Downtown has come true and this is a daily log of our intent of doing so for a long time without losing our identity as a person- aside from a mother and assuring the happiness and development of my daughters.

Susie, I’m very proud to know you, yes especially because your family. It takes a lot of courage to share about your life in public. I know this because I spoke about my life publically a few times and wow talk about shaking at the knees but, there is a reward of growth in character.
